Bahamas

I can't believe it's already been two weeks since I came back from the Bahamas. One of the best part of the trip was not being connected all the time. It frees up time to do something else. At the same time, it was also one of the worst parts because I was hoping that maybe one of the companies I applied to would get back to me.

It was my first time being on a cruise. It was very different from the other trips I had taken where we're always rushing from one place to another so we could see the sites. On this cruise, there wasn't really any sites to see, the main attraction being the beaches. All our meals were taken care of (there were food 24/7!) as well as the room. The cruise stopped at three islands: Freeport, Nassau, and Great Stirrup Cay, the last being a private island. We would usually travel by night and explore the islands by day. When we're on the boat, there was not a lack of things to do.

At the first island, we decided to walk from the port to downtown. It was not until we were stopped by the second taxi that we realized that the walk would've been ~12 miles and through the industrial area. Apparently the map provided to us by the ship was not to scale... When we finally got to Port Lucaya on the island, we walked around the straw market. Pretty much every single stall we walked by tried to get us to buy something from them.

At Nassau, we tried to catch a bus which would take us pretty much all around the city. Failing that, we went around the city and saw some of the main sites: Queen's steps and the fort, which weren't much. Finally we took a ferry to Paradise Island and to Atlantis.

On the third day we had BBQ on the beach. Besides snorkeling for a bit (there were so many fish!) it was pretty much just spent lounging around.
